how does your garden grow?

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.

IMG_0469

Well we started the spring fun last week! We are loving having our own yard to do as we please. Were ripping out bushes, creating a garden, removing cement, weeding and did i mention weeding?

IMG_0472

IMG_0474

Here we ripped out some concrete slabs and evened out the land. Can you see its in a ‘L’ shape? The little piece jutting off we will plant grass seed to fill in the holes where the concrete was.

Then we decided bigger is better. Why not try planting some other things then just potatoes, peas & carrots?

IMG_0674_edited-1

So we tackled the other side of the deck to create more room.

IMG_0695

This is how i help garden when im not feeling well, I keep dave company.

IMG_0689

Now on Saturday we tackled the front of the house. We had these nasty shrubs and i am not sure of the name but they grow from one root.

IMG_0747  IMG_0743

This is one truck load full and its still consuming half of the front yard. Were gonna do a flower bed in the front and plant grass seed.

IMG_0753

Here’s Dave showing off his muscles after he pulled out the root! It took us forever to get that stubborn root out. Its crazy how from one root grows so much shrubbery.

So we took a load to the dump Saturday. This morning the man who runs Bridge Villa Estates came in with a tractor and picked up the rest of the branches for us. We are so grateful!

Here's some of the flowers starting to grow.

The second u/s.

We had the second u/s yesterday to check up on why i am getting so bog so fast. We won’t have all the results back until i see my doctor next Friday. We have one very uncooperative baby. His face was down (facing my spine) and this resulted in a LONG and PAINFUL u/s. The tech couldn’t get all the pictures and measurements that she needed. So she had to go get another tech to help, i rolled back and forth several times so they could try getting pictures on my side. Still didn’t get any pictures of the face. She said i seemed to be right on track for my due date. We will find out more once i see my doctor because the techs can’t really tell us anything. We didn’t get sent home with any pictures  (dang it!) and we didn’t get to see much of this little guy. Were getting so excited we only have 14 weeks left!

Thank You!

I hope my grandma doesn’t mind me posting this. This is my dear Grandma Campbell. She absolutely spoiled me today. We went baby clothes shopping and out for lunch together.

As I was driving home and thinking of our little outing i got thinking of how you always want to  grow up to be just like your mom. Well my mom had an example of a forgiving, honest, strong and genuine mother.  This allowed my mother to learn from her, which gave me the greatest mom.  I hope that some day I can hear my kids say the same thing about me and that I can learn from my mother & grandmothers example.  I just feel like the LUCKIEST girl today to have such strong mother figures in my life.

Can you see the resemblance in my mom and grandma?

Is it so?

Just got home from my 6 month check up and it was a little overwhelming! I found out I'm Rh- blood type, which means i have to take shots through out the rest of my pregnancy which isn't i big deal, lots of woman deal with this. Also i did some heart tests last week and my results came back not normal, meaning i need to go see a specialist for more tests. Then they weighed me and i still haven’t gained any weight ( yay!) which is okay and healthy except that my fundal measurements are quite big this check up.  A normal woman's grows from 2-3cm in the 4 week span. I had grown 5 cm which is double, so my doctor joked that its twins.. (that’s not a funny joke!). He is sending me for another ultrasound to check and see if we are going to have one large baby or if there is 2?! i don't know which would be better? We will keep everyone posted after this ultrasound on the news. I'm thinking it might just be a big baby and not twins but it is possible for them to miss it at our first ultrasound. I'm done working now and loving it! I have way more energy and motivation!

Last day.

Its a bitter SWEET day today. Its my last day of work at Regis Salon. I’m very excited to be home more and to take it easy. Its been pretty hard on my body these last few weeks standing 8 hours a day. Hopefully by slowing down the dizziness and lightheadedness  (good English I know) goes away. I already have tons of lists of things to accomplish and projects to make. I better jet to work and can’t wait to start sewing and crafting more :) Oh. p.s this sunday is already our 2nd anniversary isn’t that crazy! oh how time flies!

Saying Goodbye.

I've really been struggling to say goodbye to my amazing clientele.I'm done in 3 weeks and have been saying goodbye these last 2 weeks. I have such a wide range of clients that stand out in my mind that I'm gonna have a hard time saying good bye to. Everything from a 16 year old amazing hockey player who goes to Italy every summer to an old lady who doesn't speak English. I'm gonna miss all these people and so many have given me email addresses and phone number to keep in contact. I'm gonna truly miss my clients but very excited to start our new journey.

last night was the night! i felt the big kick! ive been feeling it do somersaults and back flips for a few weeks but last night as i was reading i felt it. i had the book sitting on my stomach and then all of sudden my booked moved and i felt that little leg just give me a giant kick ( well not giant i mean how big could it be the baby only weighs a pound! ).

well i might as well give an update of our extremely busy lives. Daves doing amazing in school and hes achieving his goal of grades higher then 90%. we've almost been married for 2 years and he constantly still amazes me and surprises me. he is LOVING school, its a very competitive program. he tells me what he learns everyday and is just so excited about the justice program and all the laws. Its wonderful to see him love to get up at 6am for school.

As for me and baby. were doing well. ive been thoroughly spoiled with this pregnancy and haven't had terrible morning sickness and any weird symptoms. no weird cravings i just want salty foods. I am going to be leaving on medical leave the 15th of march. Ive been having problems with my BP as its been a bit of a rollercoaster while being pregnant. I have normal BP when im not pregnant but my first check up it was high, along with my second. My third checked out to be normal and then my fourth check up it was now low. This is causing me to get very dizzy and light headed. i havent passed out but im getting close. I also start seeing stars alot! the part that worries us is that its happening when im driving now and just sitting on the couch. Part of the blame is my job tho, i stand for 8 hours causing all my blood to pool into my legs. When your pregnant you usually have about 5L of extra fluids so dizziness is normal to an extent. It should only last upto 12-14 weeks and im now 20 so im suppose to start taking it easy. if i start to pass out or black out this causes an oxygen deficiency for the baby and we dont want that!

Ive been able to get lots of crafting done while daves in school and i need to slow down. im gonna run out of things to do on medical leave if i accomplish all now. Im loving the sewing and crafts right now. soon as we know what were having then i can start doing more things that aren't just neutral. we have our ultrasound next thursday and then the following week the doctor will tell us what "it" is. woohoo!

Friday, February 5, 2010

As you can tell ive had some extra time on my hands these past 6 weeks. Look at how much crafting im getting done! Its called having a husband in school... He is such a good student! He study's and does so much homework. Thus allowing me to have a good 3-4 hours a night to do crafts. Sadly tho allows less couple time. This is a toss up :) Anywho here is my latest projects:

this should say wipes case.

Saturday, January 23, 2010

so i have the craftin bug and the nesting fever! here are the latest starts to some projects.

These are my $1 pictures! when we bought our house it was all freshly painted and all the same blah color. TAN. Our house needs some color. So without having to paint im using these to add some spice. These will be for the nursery room. I figure they are neutral enough that we can add pink accessories to make it a girl and then if its a boy good enough!

This is the soon to be family feature wall. Im hoping this will help be get motivated to start collecting family pictures and get em up!

This is the one in our bathroom. im trying to figure out some way to spice up this wall, without painting.

This is in our bedroom and we need to now add our wedding photos to the wall.

Cheers!

So this month ive been crafting away. Heres a few of the things ive been doing:

1st. Lei Lani's Baby Shower:

This is a candle holder made out of baby food jars. Just cover with scrapbooking paper and flare with some ribbon. The website I saw used bows, i am not a bow type of girl so I just wrapped around with 2 sided tape and viola!

Some pictures for the gift table, just used some sock monkey scrapbooking paper instead of a mat.

Some more pictures, I did a few collages of Lei Lani and Max as babies with a center picture of Benson. Black picture frames are centerpieces too.

Heres the "B" in Benson, I created these letters to hang up at the shower on a window. I started with a canvas an it took 4 coats of brown to cover it. Then pick your paper and trace out your letters. to make it easier i just printed off my letters on to the paper and cut them out. then glue on with a glue stick. make sure its just really thick to seal it so you dont get bubbles. Then MODGE PODGE, and again podge modge. do thin coats and lots of them. I used a gloss and would recommend using a mat next time.

I found the best thing in the world at Dollar Giant! its a party pack, that contained 8 favors, 8 announcements, 8 thank you's, and 8 invitations. All for just $1! so i bought 10 packs of the boy and girl party packs, so whoever has a shower next you can use these, they are a lifesaver! So thankfully my mom came one night and helped me assemble these (all 40!).

2nd: A peekaboob cover.

I went to Lei Lani's this weekend to sew my own peekaboob cover. I choose to make my own because i wanted to make it a little bigger then the ones you can buy. i made this huge so i will have no oopsies. also i made this for a whole whoppin $9! Where as buying would have cost be around $30!
Here is a picture of the boning in the top to allow you to look at the baby, without the world seeing.

Heres how to sew in the boning to prevent it from sliding.

I sewed a little pocket in the corner to hold breastpads. i used flannel to match this next picture.

I sewed in a little triangle, to use to wipe up any spills. I still need to sew on the strings to hold it around my neck.

Just got home from my 16th week check up and it was a huge success! Blood Pressure is normal woohoooo!!!!! The past 2 check ups its been high, this was a huge scare. High BP can cause premature babies and i am so relieved to be back to normal again! We heard the very distinct little heart beat and again 155. According to the old wives tale its gonna be a girl. We shall find out how correct that is on Feb.18 with the ultrasound. My Dr. had me so excited cause he said lets do it at 18 weeks, but i guess the lab likes you to be 20 weeks. i was so excited thinking oh my i can know in 2 weeks. oh well! i suppose i can have some patience and wait 4 weeks :) Dont fret my friends we will share that news in 4 weeks, i could never know and not tell anyone.

Thursday, January 14, 2010

i think this morning was the beloved moment every pregnant women looks forward to : the movement of the baby! im only 16 weeks and didnt expect to feel it for awhile now, but im not complaining! :) the other day i was joking with dave that it felt like something down there was twitching or either thats what it feels like when the baby moves but i was unsure. this morning it was a distinct little kick. i dont know if there is such thing as having pregnancy insomnia, if there is im claiming i have it. i never sleep now and i am a person who needs all the sleep i can get! it must be preparing be for something later on... not sure what or why? :) i am so glad it kept me up last night so i could just lay there and feel the fainest kicks. im excited now, lets see what i have to say when im 35 weeks and all i want is sleep and my little guy wants to play soccer with my ribs. so right now im thoroughly loving this pregnancy!

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

Ive been thinking lots tonight, i know UH OH! daves out babysitting and was suppose to be home at 6:30 so i didnt go over after i got off of work at 6:15. its past 8:30 now and so ive been home by myself for almost 2 and a 1/2 hours, not a big deal right?! well dave and i are always glued at the hip. we take our lunch at 12 so we can share lunch together everyday. dave worked 8-5 and i work 10-6. so we have always have evenings together. tonight made me realize how lucky we have been, we have only ever spent 2 nights apart in 2 years.

were heading into a big change and turn into our lives this year. dave has school starting tomorrow and once he finds a job he'll be working part time too. i know this is gonna create less "us" time. its gonna be a big change for us not to be together all the time.

also another biggie for us this year is the bun in my oven. thats gonna be a big change for us as well. were just thinking this past week about how much we take for grant-it how we can just get up and go whenever we want. we are so excited to meet this little one and how were gonna have a family of THREE!

sorry for this rant, im just thinking about this new year for us and the past 2. gotta love a new year and how it gives us all a fresh start. what are your new years resolutions?
