fear.

I have been so overwhelmed with feeding Levi solids. It has been such a fear for me. Am I starting fruit too soon, should I not give him meat yet, or should I have started this veggie first etc.. I also get freaked out because Levi can’t stand textures. Soon as anything gets remotely close to the back of his tongue he would gag himself till he either a) threw it up b) swallowed it c) spit it out. I was absolutely terrified to start anything that wasn’t mashed/purred or liquid. Well let me show you my new best friend.

IMG_4102

They are rice cereal in cookie form. Super messy but its teaching Levi to grab his own food and put it in his mouth and its helping with the textures-gagging problem. Also my fear is slowly being conquered with the books I’ve been reading. I'm ignoring everyone's advice – no offense to anyone who gave me some but it was just confusing me more. Some say give cheese and yogurt at 6 months others say NO WAY wait at least 9 months. Give them this but wait don’t give them that. Oh it was just a big ol stress for me! So as any kind of parenting goes were doing what suits us and works for Levi. Guess what? He’s still alive and just gobbling everything up, sometimes with a weird face but he eats it none the less. We know he’s doing well he’s now 18lbs and 28 3/4” long!

Enjoy some of these messy eating pictures:

bubbs the handsome.

002 - February 2011

Can’t believe how big he is getting!

Our cousins had a baby and we’ve been over to visit a few times and you just forget how little they are! We told ourselves when Levi was born that we wouldn’t forget how little they are, well we forgot and it kind of makes you want another one….. but just you think about it for a few minutes, and then realize your baby is only 6 1/2 months old and that means our kids would only be 16 months-ish apart and Levi already occupies me full time let alone two little munchkins.

Now that teething is done for a little while life is resuming its normal routine. Sleeping is getting better and that sure helps make happy parents and a happy baby. He is eating so well and tries anything. The other day Dave fed him and I asked what rice cereal he put in with the peas and carrots, Dave replied the stuff in the red bag. oh golly, that was the raspberry and banana flavoured wheat cereal. So Levi ate peas & carrots with raspberries & banana. Yuck! but he ate it all!

Dave has the voice stress test tomorrow and then his last thing he will have to do is the appointment with the Physiatrist. We will find out before the end of March if he is getting hired on. This is going way faster then when we did the RCMP. We’ll keep you updated.

perfection.

the perfect date.

We went on a date last night and dropped Levi off at my sisters and then headed to go see Harry Potter 7. Dave loved the movie, I'm not a huge HP fan but still it was a good movie. Then we called to see how Levi was and if we could go for dessert to complete the night. They said he had been awake the whole time and he was falling asleep while playing. So we picked him up and he instantly fell asleep in the car. Thanks LL & MAX!! We still went for dessert since Levi was sleeping. Soon as we got home at 10:30pm we put the munchkin to bed. He slept till 6:30am, then fell back asleep till 8:30am!!

How perfect of  a night, a date, a full nights rest and getting to sleep in!

a fresh start {some good looking boys}

haircutbefore

Levi’s hair was spiky in some spots and laid down in others. He had random long patches, so we cut it to give it all a fresh start.

IMG_3942

Getting ready! The trimmers didn’t bother him one bit, but they were very fascinating. He just wanted to stare at them the whole time, Dave had to entertain him to keep him from looking at them.

IMG_3946

He was so tired!

IMG_3947

Here we go!!

IMG_3956

He did so well, such a happy little guy!

We cut Dave’s right after Levi.

Don’t they look even more alike?

{ I am so amazed at how well he did even with his nasty cold and it being past nap time! }

we’s got the summa fever!

I was sorting through levi’s clothes and noticed he had a cute short-shirt out fit that looked like it was gonna be too small by summer time. So I said to myself, lets get some use out of it! Well this caused me to want summer to come faster. It could also be that its been above 10 the past few days!

can you see the excitement?

feeling accomplished.

IMG_3835

These 3 slept for 2 hours, you have no idea how much I got accomplished. Levi isn’t much of a napping kinda kid, so im use to having 15-30 mins if I want to get anything done. Which isn’t a whole lot of time. Tomorrow were having some couples over to play games and have dessert so I wanted to get a good clean in today. While these 3 napped I cleaned:

- the bathroom

- made dessert for tomorrow

-did a load of dishes

-swept the floors

- did 2 loads of laundry

- washed bottles

-cleaned up levi’s toys

-dusted

I feel like super woman. in the past 6 months I haven’t gotten that much done in 2 hours. No wonder people who have kids that nap can keep there house cleaner. One day, one day I will be able to stay on top of it everyday. But for now I love all the time I get to play with my munchkin.

ps. if your wondering why I keep saying 3 – theres Rascal sleeping on Daves legs.

from a baby to a big boy.

Seriously this past week my baby grew up into a little boy. I dunno how it happened, maybe I missed the growth spurt or maybe its that one little tooth that came through?? But somehow BAM Levi isn’t a baby anymore.

He now sits in a booster seat to eat. He has started eating more solids. He all of a sudden has a love for faces, he can’t stop touching our cheeks, nose, lips and eyes. He's discovering everything and can’t stop taking in the world. He wants everything we have in our hands. The remote, our food, our drinks, the laptop and anything he can reach. He’s trying to crawl so badly, but rolls everywhere instead. He no longer hates water.

In 2 weeks he will be 6 months and maybe that’s why he’s not a little boy anymore.

IMG_3680

We celebrated our Christmas morning on Christmas eve morning so we could head out to Mountain View and surprise everyone that we came for their Christmas morning. I'm so glad we decided to do our own Christmas. It was just us 3 and it was so relaxing and quiet. We got to go at our own pace and just enjoy one another. It was a small Christmas for us but we enjoyed it more then any of our past Christmas's.

IMG_3686

Levi unwrapped presents like a pro. We were absolutely amazed at how fast he got the concept and just pulled off the wrapping paper, because all he wanted was to eat it.

Levi crashed after he opened his presents. Here’s the gifts he received from santa and 2 of his great grandmas.

IMG_3710

I got a bunch of clothes, and all that candy was in a scavenger hunt around the house. Then once I found it all I had to open them in order, Santa (aka Dave) had put them into a candy gram.

IMG_3716

Dave’s big present was to be able to go snowboarding while we were out at Kimberly.

IMG_3721

We couldn’t help but put Levi into his new sled while he was sleeping.

Christmas eve was one of the best days. After opening presents we got ready for the rest of the day and started to get packed for the cabin and mountain view. We headed out to taber at 3 to go ice skating on the outdoor rink. Then we headed out to barnwell to my aunt’s traditional christmas eve party. We had fondue for supper and desert. YUM! then we did a program/talent show and played a bunch of games. We got home around 11 and still needed to pack the rest of the stuff for our trip but were tired. So off to bed we went. Levi woke up at 2:30am to eat in the night and once he went back to bed I just stayed up and finished packing. Then I woke dave up and he loaded the car up. We left at 5:30am for mountain view to go surprise everyone. We got their at 6:30 and everyone was still sleeping??!!!! Needless to say we were both VERY tired and cranky after such little sleep. We watched everyone open presents and then just relaxed the rest of the day.

Sunday Morning after chruch we headed out to Kimberly to go stay at the cabin. It wasn’t as long of a drive as we were expecting so that was a big perk, plus Levi slept a lot of the time. We had an absolute blast at the Cabin! Dave got to go snowboarding with all the guys. We went into town to go explore all the shops and found one of the best thrift stores we have ever seen. Everything was in good condition or new for really cheap. I was finally able to find a baby food processor! We came home yesterday late afternoon and still haven’t unpacked. Who knew that relaxing could be so tiring? Now we have to find the motivation to unpack and do our laundry. Thanks again momma and pops for the cabin trip!
