in desperate need of advice…

Woman who have been pregnant or are pregnant, how do you sleep comfortably? I have been struggling for the past 3 weeks to sleep for more then an hour stretch at night without waking up because I'm so uncomfortable. I sleep with a pillow between my knees and one under my belly and I’m still so uncomfortable. i don't know what it is about laying down but it feels like my pelvis and hips separate. its extremely painful and i just can’t seem to find a comfortable position. My doctor has told me not to sleep on my back, as the baby can push on my siatic nerves and cause more hip and pelvis pain. I am just trying to sleep on my left side but for some reason the right side seems more comfortable, its probably because I'm not suppose to sleep on my right side. Any who sorry about the rant but I'm just in desperate need of advice or tips on how to get more sleep and be more comfortable. Thanks guys!

  1. In the end, I had to sleep semi sitting up in a sea of pillows. I couldn't breathe laying on my back and my hips hurt too bad to lay on my sides for too long. All I can suggest is lots and lots of pillows!

  2. Isn't being preggo FUN?!?! I say sleep in whatever position you feel comfortable in ( and if that includes a mountain of pillows or sleeping on your right side DO IT!) I think that sleeping becomes less and less possible later on in your pregnancy b/c your body is training you for how many times you have to wake up in the night!! As for the feeling uncomfortable every waking moment, just grin and bear it :) after that baby is out of there you'll feel MUCH better, I promise!!

  3. i'm with shauna..to sleep in my back i just propped myself up with a tonne of pillows so you're kinda semi-sitting; that helps take the pressure off the artery in the uterus. other then that...i tried not napping so i was super tired...but really, it's just the joy of being prego and it only get's worse in the last 6 weeks! ugh!

  4. yeah, use all the pillows you need...
you can find a wedge pillow at some maternity stores that you can put under your back....then it FEELS like you're sleeping on your back, but you're not putting that direct pressure on your sciatic nerve... because it kind of props you to the side. Does that make sense? Might help.

  5. Trust me we have all been there !! I feel your pain. With me it hurt to sleep on my back, side, everything. I eventually found this GREAT wedge pillow at Thyme and it was my saving grace.. didn't lift the belly too high and supported everything just right. I also had a pillow between my knees ! Worth a try though, I loved my pillow.
