The virus..

On Monday we went to the spray park and after we got back I noticed wills head was really red, looked sunburnt. I thought it was strange because I had lathered his pasty white skin in SPF 60 and he wore his hat about 80% of the time. Later that evening his eyes started to get really red, as if he had rubbed them really hard and was tired.

On Tuesday he had raised bumps on his arms and a little bit on the body. His head was still red and he had a bit of a fever. He's been cutting molars and eye teeth for the past month, so I assumed this was a new side effect of teething. Levi always rashed with teething, but Will hadn't yet. By Wednesday the rash was getting worse and the fever was on and off.

Thursday I decided to play it safe and go see a dr, Will was pretty miserable and had no appetite. I still was just hoping this was all teething. He was pretty lethargic that day.

We got an appointment with a dr in town, thankfully we haven't needed to see a dr since we've moved, so we don't have a family dr yet. But we got in with Dr.O, and he has a thick African accent. When I showed the nurse the rash she just kind of left. And then when the Dr came in, he didn't touch Will or take any vitals. It seemed strange to me. Of course both boys were being a handful so I could barely hear (or understand the accent) what the DR was telling me. Levi even asked him, why he was speaking in Spanish??  I finally understood that he was telling me he was 98% sure those we're the measles and we needed to go to the children's hospital for blood work. And that Levi would need to come as well to be tested. And we were asked to leave without playing with any of the toys.

Whoah, hold up! I vaccinate my children! I even vaccinated Will early for the measles because of the outbreak in Lethbridge last fall. Needless to say I was kind of mad!

When I got home I called the children's to have them explain more for the protocol. Then I called Dave to give him a heads up, and so he could take a family sick day the next day. (Thank you gov't for those!) Dave was working overtime that day so of course every situation was going through my head. I was panicking because we'd been around so many children that week, and if it's the measles he would have already been contagious for 8 days! The children's hospital had said to wait and come in first thing in the morning on Friday, less patients in the ER.

(This picture doesn't show the rash too well, but you can see his red eyes)

So at 7am we headed to the children's hospital. By Friday Wills whole body was now covered with spots. Thanks to Siri we took a scenic route and finally got their by 8:30am. We got in right away and were put in a special room for those with contagious diseases. The room where people mask and glove up before coming in. After a of couple nurses and a few doctors we figured out it's only a virus... So relieved! And so glad they didn't have to do any blood work, I was so worried about that. Will had to have blood work done when he was 5 days old and I just wept listening to him cry. The nurses and doctors at children's were fantastic!
They gave the boys Popsicles! Since we weren't allowed to leave the room, they did start to get a little stir crazy but both did well!
Look how happy he was for that Popsicle!

A week later from the time it all started, the rash is almost gone! The fever and miserableness is still there but we see two teeth coming through. Were so happy it was nothing worse, I hardly slept the night before the hospital and just keep telling myself it could be worse. I could be taking my baby for chemo or surgery.

(Someone is on a naptime strike and fell asleep at 4:30pm)
We sure love ya Bubbs and glad you're ok!

Whooo's Whoooo?

We had our first RS activity last night. It was a "get to know you" night, and it was a huge success! We asked all the sisters to bring a bag with 3-5 items that would describe themselves, talents or things they like.

The owls are obviously the theme for, Whooo's Whooo? I forgot to take a picture once all the food was on the table but you get the idea.
Tobie made these super cute owl cupcakes, seriously she is the best! She was so much help!

Each sister had a pen and paper to guess each sisters items.

We had 24 bags of items. Some we were able to guess right away and others we had no idea. It was such a good turn out! It was really fun to try to guess, I was quite proud of myself on how many people I already know.
The night was so fun, and a big success! We had about 35 sisters there! A huge thanks to Tobie for so much help, and understanding my crafting craziness. And a huge thanks to Dave, for the emotional and physically support. He helped me in the evenings make that darn tassel banner, if you've ever thought of making one it takes a long time. Soon as I got home I crashed, the house was a mess and I didn't even bring in all the decorations in the car. I woke up to a very clean house, thank you Dave for waking up at 4 am to clean the house for me!

Ice cream.

This month has been so busy already. I've started babysitting and it makes the days long and busy. I'm babysitting 3 days a week now. Its been an adjustment for Levi, he's already had so many changes in the last year. Now he has to share his mom and toys, its been hard for him. Will just thinks its the greatest to have another buddy to play with. It's nice to bring in some extra income and not have to leave the house or our kids with someone else.

Will got his first ice cream cone to himself, I didn't think to grab the "real camera" till the very end. He loved it and ate it so well.
I think ice cream cones would have to be one of Levi's favourite treats, and one of my greatest bribery tools.
Finally caught his "mad face" on camera. This is the look he gives when we say NO.
But then he's back to smiling, so dramatic Will.
Will found my kids hair cutting cape, so we put it on him. He loved running with it. We couldn't stop laughing it was so funny!

Its hard to get a smiling face of Levi these days, such a goofy kid.

Will signing for more marshmallows. His poor banged up face, the screen door got left open and he went face first down the steps to our patio.
Daves parents have a little tykes car that Levi and Will love! So I found a police car one free and snatched it, you know cause we dont have a yard. Dave indulged me by emptying it out (it was full of rocks, legos and other random objects) and fixing the tires for the boys. Now they have their very own to fight over!

We sold the explorer this weekend, that's a huge relief! We weren't sure if it'd sell easy or take forever, since it didn't pass inspection. We actually sold it for more then we payed for it 4 years ago! Phewf! Now we can play during our holidays, in two weeks!

Grown up.

Going for a bike ride! Doesn't Will look so big, and Levi looks so squished in there!
The boys got a new bed this weekend, bunk beds! We're slowly getting ready for our home stay student and will be putting the boys in the big room together. Not ready for Will to be in a "big boy bed" yet, so hopefully we can keep him a crib a little longer.
Levi was so excited to help Dave! He separated the boards for him.

He's slightly excited! Once Wills ready for the new bed his mattress just goes on the floor.

Caught this sweet moment of them playing together.

This past Sunday I got released from being s RS teacher and called as the RS meeting coordinator. I'm nervous and excited, lesson learned don't tell anyone you like to plan parties. I already have an activity next week! Its gonna be so chaotic these next two weeks!

I also booked our flights for Vegas this fall. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am, after this past crazy year I think we deserve it. Happy birthday / fathers day / birthday/ anniversary to us!

2013/2014 preschool & spray park

Today was Levi's 3 year old Preschool "grad". He was asked three questions - 1. What do you like most about preschool? - Toys. 2. What do you want to be when you grow up? - Ironman 3. What will you miss most about preschool?-Sylus (his buddy).
This is his 3 year old preschool class with his teacher Mrs. Reid.
Last day of 3 year old preschool!

After that we headed to the spray park for Oliver's birthday party!
Strathmore has its own spray park, YAY!
This is Eric who I babysit, he LOVED the water!
The spray park is fenced in and perfect to just let Will run all over the place.

how many babies can you find?

Happy Birthday Oliver! Thanks for sharing your day with us!
Will chowing down on a cupcake!
