Little hands.
Tiny toes.
Perfect little ears.
On July 19th our world changed forever. We never realized exactly how it would, obviously because your having a baby your becoming parents. What i mean is that we never knew what enormous great change it would be. Our marriage was strengthened and we have a perfect little miracle that leaves us in complete awe every time we look at him. Dave was a superhero through all of this! I love this man more and more everyday!
We headed to the Hospital at 6:40am to be induced, here's our excitement (maybe we were a little nervous):
Once we checked in and headed upstairs, we meet with our DR. When we arrived I was already 1-2 cm dilated so the DR felt confident that the gel would work.
At 7 am she gave me the gel, it worked!! Instantly i was so cramped up!! By noon she came around and checked me, I was now 3cm. WOW 5 hours and only a centimeter. bummmer! We broke my water and waited to see if this would help. YEP! Instantly contractions about 4 mins apart started. after an hour and a half (1:30pm) I asked for morphine. It didn’t do anything for the pain but made me delirious and super quiet. That may have been the worst part of everything. It took 5 times and 3 nurses to get the IV in. The morphine only lasts for about an hour. So after an hour and half of no pain meds I asked for the epidural. I got it within minutes! So at 4:30pm I got the epidural and I was now 5 cm dilated. I was terrified that it was gonna be a long night. By 5 pm i was fully dilated and it was time to start pushing. All i needed to do was to relax to dilate, cause relaxing while in pain is so easy. The epidural was my best friend!
I was able to talk and laugh during the first 2 hours of pushing. Not that labour is enjoyable by any means but this sure helped. It made me feel human again after 10 hours of constant cramping and contractions. The first 2 hours of pushing weren’t that bad, the last half hour was the kicker. So at 7:35pm little Levi made his entrance into this world. We had such wonderful nurses and an amazing DR who delivered. Dave was absolutely beaming when he saw him for the first time. It was such an amazing experience to go through. I know Dave and I were blessed with how quick and simple my labour went.
We then went to our own room at midnight and the nurse came in and gave him a bath. These woman have no fear! It was 1am and it seemed like she moved at lightening speed and we were trying to remember how we were to do this when we got home. Some how we remembered! Here’s right after his bath, I wanted to catch a picture of his dimple (he got it from his momma).
No visitors were allowed because it was so late. The next day visiting hours started at 11am and we had so many people who came and showed so much love and support. Wednesday we were discharged at 11:30am. So excited to be home by ourselves in our own house! Were learning so many new things each day and loving this little guy more and more! We appreciate all of the help we have been given from family and friends.
i only have a few minutes before dave will be awake so i have to be brief-
dave has done so much work this week and has no fear figuring things out. little levi already has his dad wrapped around his finger! last night dave got up with levi and took him out into the living room so i could sleep. he would come back when its time for levi to eat. i had only been functioning on about 7 hours total this week and he knows how scared i am for him to go back to work monday. so he wanted to make sure im as fully rested as i can be, to function properly. how selfless of him not to worry about him catching up on sleep because he has to go to a hard working job. im so so grateful for an amazing husband i have and the wonderful father he is to levi. its been the greatest week of our lives and were so grateful for levi! here’s my favorite picture of daddy smiling: its right after levi was born. (thats our doctor on the right)
heres the proud daddy – levi in the perfect burrito wrap
p.s. i am so grateful for my s-i-l Melissa who was a lifesaver on saturday! thanks for the great advice and helping us new parents.

When were caught up on some sleep and have more time we will update little Levi’s arrival.
My amazing cousin did some photos for me this past week. It was SOOO windy but they still turned out great. Thanks again Brittany!! Click HERE to see them.
I keep reminding myself of this. Actually this week has gone alot better then last week. Maybe cause every morning I want to go into labour so dave doesn’t have to leave for work – he gets a week off when the baby comes! Thanks boss!!
Do you ever have unrealistic thoughts? These are what mine have been lately:
- Maybe since I’ve been having contractions for 2 weeks labour will be a breeze.
- Just cause he’s over due doesn’t mean i couldn’t have a little 6/7 pounder.
- Maybe at my dr’s appointment today she will just say “oh your so uncomfortable, lets just induce today!”
- This little guy wants to make a grand entrance cause he is ridiculously good looking!
- 14 year old girls give birth in Africa without medication so how bad could this really be?
- All of my weight gain is water retention. My ankles are the size of grapefruits and I can’t wait till they go down.
- If he comes out a girl, we will have a good laugh. Poor kid will only have one name choice.
- When you have a baby, cleaning fairies come help you for the first 6 weeks. Well not just cleaning fairies – cooking and cleaning fairies.
I can’t help but think these things this week. I have so much time on my hands. I’ve been trying to stay busy but we can’t drive far and i can’t do much walking. We have been going swimming, hoping the bouncing would help. Dave told me last night i should go off the high dive and then he’ll come… nah i dont think thats gonna work :) Anywho sorry for the rant of me being over due and going stir crazy.
this weekend was pretty disheartening. I kept thinking okay Canada day would be a fun day for a baby. mom’s birthday on independence day baby on Canada day, what fun birthdays! then the 2nd is my mom’s birthday and i kept thinking okay today’s a good day too. our little guys could share his birthday with Grandma Roberts. Nothing – BAH! then Saturday (the 3rd) is my nieces birthday and so i wanted to skip that day. she should have her own day. Sunday the fourth was my birthday – here we go! lets have him and we can just share birthdays. nope nothing. why do i get these thoughts in my head to excite myself?? So today is the 5th and i thought hmm.. perfect day! we will just do a marathon of birthdays on the Roberts side. well its 5 o’clock and nothings happened so I'm gonna assume its a nope today. Well i had a check up today and she did say that i will get to meet him on or before the 19th! (that is if labour isn’t terribly long) that's 2 weeks from today. if he doesn’t come were gonna induce on the 19th.
we went camping on weds night last week in waterton here’s a few pictures of the fun!
4 in the morning! so t-i-r-e-d…
such a good hubby to get up with me every time i need the bathroom in the night. our campsite wasn’t super close to the washrooms. so since waterton is bear country dave got to be my protector.
our little camper! we love it already!!
SO i haven’t had any weird craving for food or any kind of cravings for food. My weird thing is – i can’t get enough of the smell of laundry. I always want to be doing the laundry just so i can smell the clothes. i don't think our laundry has ever been this well kept.I love the smell of Gain mixed with Oxy power, on wet clothes. If i could convince Scensty to make a new smell i think this would be the winner! I use to hate walking down the laundry isles in Wal-Mart because they smelt so strong – now i walk down the isle even if i don't have to.
What’s some of the weird things you experienced while being pregnant? Cravings, urges or even things that irritated you?
You have given Dave and I such a great laugh.
Shoes don’t fit, toes don’t touch the ground, and the joy of fat cankles.
You can leave whenever you want, Please?!?! I just want to be able to walk without feeling fluid swishing back and forth on my feet. Also I'd love to be able to wear flip flops and take them off and not look like I'm still wearing them. Thanks for visiting but you have worn out your welcome.
The living room has been attacked by birds.
The laundry room is becoming beautiful!
The nursery had a stampede go through it.
These vinyl – stick ons are $2 at dollarama!! Even if you change your decor in 6 months its well worth $2 to add some spice in the mean time. The picture quality isn’t great but I think you can get the idea of what's going on.
Today we went for a check up and she told us its time to get ready- not that we didn’t know already :) Now we are almost already! I have a bijillion lists of what to pack, to buy and to get done. Crazy to think im almost full term – 4 more days. We’re thinking time to pack the bags and set the crib up. Dave’s doing that right now THANKS! We have the list of who to call/text all ready to go. So if anyone has any advice on what to pack that would be great, I'm just going off of a website. Hoping that I remember everything. Thankfully we don’t live to far away if I forget anything. We still aren’t 100% on names so go ahead and throw those our way too.
Heres the crib- Thanks to a wonderful auntie for the bedding and awesome mom for finding the crib for FREE!!
I am now at the doctor’s office every week, what a delight! Last night i was telling Dave i think the baby “dropped” I'm waddling and needing the washroom every other hour now. Sleeping more then a 3 hour stretch is SO SO exciting! Today when I was at the the DR, she palpated my stomach and asked how i was feeling and i told her i think he's dropped. She felt around and said he definitely has. She pointed out where his feet were placed and that his bum is on the left side so he is in the perfect position. So bring on D-Day were ready for ya! Dr. Adolph even gave me my papers to be admitted into the hospital just in case. Crazy to think that we are now down to 4 1/2 weeks! YIKES- a - BEES! We still feel like we have a million things to get done around the house and yard. At the same time we just want to meet him and see his little face.
Dave and I haven’t taken any maternity shots yet, were waiting for the weather to clear up. He did shoot a quick one of my expanding belly. Hard to believe how fast time is going by!
Taa Daa!! I finally sewed some drapes for the kitchen. I found this fabric at Thrift Village for $5 plus it was 50% off so really i got all of it for $2.50!!
Its hard to see the texture and color of the fabric in the pictures. I am in love with the fabric!
Its amazing how a little thing like drapes can brighten up a room!
Here’s another project i did this week. I dont have them hung up yet so you can’t see the WOW factor. These will be hung in the office.
This is a shower curtain from Thrift village that i got for $2 ( it was 50% off day as well). From the picture you can see it had hooks to hang on the shower rod. Luckily these were nice and long, I could just chop that off! Then I cut into 2 equal pieces to create 2 panels.
I folded over the top twice to give it a finished hem. I also did this on the 2 sides that were cut. So they looked finished.
Then folded over 3 more inches to give room for a bar. We have kinda chunky bars that our drapes hang from, so I do 3” hems. Did this for both panels.
I’ll show a picture of them all hung up once that happens.
I found an awesome recipe website. I haven’t cooked anything yet, i just found it yesterday. As soon as i do i will share it with you!

Oh how i hate that i always take my health for granted. It takes me getting sick to realize how much i love being healthy. This week i got a nasty GI bug, thank heavens it was only 24 hours! It was bad enough that it caused a night in the ER. I was loosing my liquids faster then i could drink them. Causing me to get dehydrated quickly. Dave and I had quite the reality check when we went into the hospital and they gave us our own delivery suite. We are gonna be there sooner then we think. I was hooked upto an IV for about 5 hours. It was really neat when they hooked me up to check the baby’s heartbeat and to see if i was having any contractions. He was the most active he’s ever been and he kept disrupting the heartbeat. I finally had dave come put his hand on my stomach to feel how active he was, Dave was all smiles as he felt either a hand or foot go across my stomach. We had the nicest nurse, she offered to let us sleep all night in the suite if we wanted too, and she would just give me a 3rd bag of fluids. I have a hard enough time sleeping that i just wanted my own bed. We were glad that Dave’s boss (my dad) allowed him to have the next day off to help take care of me. I am now feeling better and it makes me realize that i need to enjoy being healthy more.
Meet Percy the Pike.
Dave was sad he dropped the poor fellow. Were unsure if he lived to tell that tale.
This is Frank, a Franklin Gull. We rescued him this same evening. Luckily the Birds of Prey Center was still open at 9 at night. They came and picked him up for us. They said he just was too skinny and they would feed him at the center and he would be good as new!
The B-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l sunset at Henderson Lake. You can kind of see the Airplanes criss crossing each others paths.
Dave cooked a cake and i turned it into a celebration. Amongst all my excitement i spelled a word wrong.. Did you catch on to it? Can you tell who's ready to be done being pregnant??? oh i am!
